Everyday at work, I hear a lot from constituents in our community who are really struggling, are concerned and looking for answers. Each day this week, I’m going to post about one of the topics I hear the most about, with the best resources I have to help. And if anyone has specific issues, please directly reach out to me.

With closures, businesses with no customers and a cautious (but safe) re-opening plan in the works – there are many questions and concerns on how to get through these tough economic times. Whether you own a small business or farm, run a nonprofit, there are some federal programs that can help you.

Under the Small Business Administration there are two main programs. First is the Payroll Protection Program: this can help cover payroll expenses and some operating costs. The second is the Economic Injury Disaster Loan: up to $10,000 of this loan program ($1,000 per employee) is a forgivable grant. The rest is a low interest loan spread out over 30 years.
