Everyday at work, I hear a lot from constituents in our community who are really struggling, are concerned and looking for answers. Each day this week, I’m going to post about one of the topics I hear the most about, with the best resources I have to help. And if anyone has specific issues, please directly reach out to me.
Families are concerned about their loved ones in nursing homes and other assisted living facilities I feel this personally as well with my grandma. We can’t visit and the news is often worrisome. It’s hard to know what is happening. Health aides and staff are worried about their safety.
The state announced some new regulations yesterday. Hospitals are no longer allowed to discharge patients back into nursing homes unless they test negative for the coronavirus and staff must be tested twice a week. If you or a loved one still feel unsafe or if you can’t get your COVID 19 questions answered, there is a place to report with our Attorney General. Please call 833-249-8499 or find the online form here: https://ag.ny.gov/nursinghomes.
