Over the past few years we have seen historic protests in our city, and a reckoning with the disparate experiences of Black and brown residents throughout Monroe County. Deep-seated quality of life issues remain for many, in areas of housing, food security, wages, criminal justice, and even health outcomes.

I will continue to legislate with this reality in mind, and actively seek ways to dismantle the systemic barriers that have affected Rochester residents. I’ve introduced legislation to create maternal mental health workgroups to develop and issue recommendations on how we can better serve women of color, and other populations that don’t traditionally seek these services. In addition, I look forward to seeing the results of the City of Rochester’s UBI pilot, and will advocate to expand this program if successful.
