I’m a proud product of the SUNY system, and recognize that for many families across the region that this option is the most affordable and attractive option to send children to college. Yet, over the past 20 years we’ve seen college costs skyrocket at public and private institutions alike.

As Chair of the Subcommittee on the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), I’m working to increase income eligibility for TAP awards, and raise the minimum amount awarded to students. This program must reflect the realities of 2022, and how working families deal with college affordability. In addition, I’ve introduced legislation to provide consumer protections, and ensure that all colleges and universities in New York are upfront about their tuition policies, to ensure that no student is left on the hook due to vague or deceptive guidance from their school.
