A lifelong resident of Rochester, I grew up in the Southeast part of the city and graduated from East High School and SUNY Stony Brook. I live with my husband John and our children, Jack, Sean, and Grace, in the Maplewood neighborhood.

I believe in public service and serving our communities. I had the pleasure of working for the United States Senate for two decades; first for Senator Hillary Clinton and later for Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. This experience has made me an effective voice for our community and allowed me to hit the floor running. Representing you in the 136th district – Brighton, Irondequoit, and the City of Rochester – is an honor everyday. As your representative in the New York State Assembly, I am working to ensure everyone’s voice is heard and everyone feels included.

This past year in the state legislature we made historic investments in our community, including fully funding public education, support for our seniors, and for our arts, non-profits, restaurants and local businesses — a truly people-centered budget. As a freshman legislator, I was proud to pass six bills last year, all signed into law by the Governor. And I ensured important investments were made into our neighborhoods, libraries and the community organizations that are most important to you.

I’m so proud of what we have accomplished in my short time in office, but there is still so much to do to ensure a better New York for all. I believe in the strength of our people, our neighborhoods and the communities we call home. I will fight as hard for your families as I do my own.

I am honored and humbled to have received the support of everyone who voted for me in today’s election. There are still thousands of absentee ballots left to be counted, and I am eagerly awaiting those results in my race and in other races across our community.

Thank you.
